Moon-chi

On the App Store

The moon, read plainly.

Moon-chi tells you what phase the moon is in, what it means today, and what to actually do about it — in plain language, without the incense-and-mysticism voice. No account. No email. Works on a plane.

Free to download, on iPhone and iPad. The phase tracker, the moon calendar and the sky itself are free forever. Readings are $0.99 each, or included with a subscription — which also unlocks the journal, your natal chart and the oracle.
The Moon-chi reading screen: a rendered full moon at 86% lit with the Moon-chi cow mascot perched on a crescent beside it, the headline Tend the brave beginning, moon in Pisces, tiles reading 86% lit, sign Pisces and cycle day 19 of 29, and today's intention.

Why it's different

Most astrology apps want your email before they'll tell you anything.

Moon-chi has no accounts. There is no sign-up screen, no password, no verification email, and no "create a profile to continue." You open it and it works.

Your birth details and everything you write stay on your device. The natal chart is computed on your phone, not on a server. Even the birth-place lookup uses a city list bundled inside the app, so it never asks for location permission and never reads where you are.

The moon is the one thing in astrology you can independently check. So the math had better be right.

What you get

Four things, done properly.

Real astronomy, not vibes

Phase, illumination and sign come from standard astronomical algorithms and are computed on your device. The moon you see is rendered from NASA's lunar map with the terminator in the right place — not a stock crescent.

A reading you'd act on

Short, direct, specific to the phase and your chart. No "dear one", no "the universe whispers". Something you could actually do before lunch.

Your chart, hand-drawn

A full birth chart on a hand-drawn celestial wheel, Sun through Pluto, with every placement and aspect interpreted. Generated once, then yours.

A journal that notices

Log mood, energy and intention against each phase. Over a few cycles it starts showing you your own patterns instead of guessing at them.

How it works

Give it your birthday. That's the setup.

01

Tell it when you were born

Date is enough to start. Add the time and place and you unlock your rising sign and the full chart — both computed on your phone.

02

Open it in the morning

Today's phase, how lit it is, what sign the moon is in, and a reading written for that combination. Roughly a minute to read.

03

Write one line

Mood, energy, an intention. The calendar fills in behind you, and the patterns show up on their own after a cycle or two.

04

Ask when you're stuck

The oracle is a conversation about your chart and the current phase, rather than a horoscope you read at. It's the one part that needs a connection.

Straight answers

What you're actually getting.

  • Free to download. The phase tracker, the moon calendar, the illumination, the moon sign and the cycle day don't cost anything and aren't a trial.
  • The written reading — the intention, the ritual, the altar, the folklore — is $0.99 for that phase, bought once and yours. There are eight phases in a lunar cycle, so a subscription is cheaper if you read every one.
  • Pro includes every reading, plus the lunar journal and its monthly summaries. Elite adds your natal chart and the oracle. Both are subscriptions, cancel any time in App Store settings.
  • iPhone and iPad. No Android yet.
  • No account, ever. We never ask for your name, email or password, because there is nowhere to sign in to.
  • The AI readings and the oracle are the one thing that leaves your phone. Your phase, sign and question go out; your journal and your identity don't.
  • No ads. No tracking across apps or websites. No advertising identifier.
